Gardenia Dress & Blouse
Gardenia Dress & Blouse
Sew a loose-fitting dress (or top) with flattering adjustable tucks and waist ties. Great for our Florida weather, whether walking the dog or relaxing on the lanai.
In this class you will work with bias collar finishing, bias ties and simple hems. You will also learn several seam finishing techniques. This is a great pattern for those getting started with garment sewing. This pattern is best suited for rayon or wool challis, drapey cottons, linens, silks, or knits.
Skill Level: Confident Beginner (to garment sewing)
Skill Details: You must already have knowledge of your sewing machine and how to operate it. This class is suitable for a confident sewer with limited garment construction knowledge. You should know how to read a pattern layout and place and cut your pattern pieces on your fashion fabric.
Requirements:
- Gardenia Dress & Blouse pattern
- Prepare your fashion fabric as directed in the pre-work section below. If you are unsure of what size to cut, please contact the store and they will put you in contact with Linda who will consult with you before you start cutting.

- Small pressing mat and personal iron (optional)
- Sewing machine in good working order
Pre-work before class:
- Pre-wash your fashion fabric as you would normally launder it .
- Lay out and cut your fashion fabric – front, back (on fold), and sleeve bands. Note: We will cut the bias ties and collar in class. If you prefer, you may just pin your pattern pieces on the fabric and Linda will check your layout before you start cutting.
