Collage Quilt Workshop with Jill

CLASS DESCRIPTION
We will be spending time with the principles of color, such as contrast, Value and temperature. This will enable you to begin to choose the many fabrics you will be using to apply to your design. You will start cutting small shapes of fabric and applying to your base cloth. You will learn this method of appliqué and be confident to create the look you want. We will be working in two sessions. The first will cover the color principles, creating your design, fabric selection, and supplies used.
The second session, we will be working with adhesive and prepping our fabric and beginning the appliqué technique. We will also cover the free motion quilting process to finish your quilt. This class is for beginners and the objective of the class is to guide you through the process of collage quilting and leave you confident to finish on your own timeline. If your are a seasoned quilter, this will give you a fresh perspective and teach you a creative new skill set and new techniques. After reading Emily Taylor’s book The Collage Quilter, Essentials for Success with Collage Quilts, you will begin to get comfortable with the process. You can choose a design from her book, or choose your own design from a photo or picture.
